Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC) organised the second annual conference on Onco Critical Care which brought together experts, intensivists, nurses, and health professionals working in critical care areas from the national capital and neighbouring regions to explore the gaps in oncology care.

The theme of the conference resonates with the broader goal of improving patient outcomes and addressing the financial and emotional toll on cancer patients and their families.

D S Negi, CEO, RGCIRC, expressed the need for fostering a collaborative environment for ongoing education and research and stressed RGCIRC’s aim to ensure that cancer patients receive the intensive care they need to improve their chances of recovery and quality of life.

Dr Parveen Kaur, Consultant and Head MICU, RGCIRC and Organising Chairperson of the conference, emphasised, that the purpose of this conference is to raise awareness that cancer diagnosis is not a dead end and that intensive care is not just a reactive measure but an integral part of cancer care.

The sessions and panel discussions focused on topics including the “AI Maturity Roadmap for Effective and Sustainable Application in Healthcare,” “CAR T Cell Therapy: Pearls and Pitfalls,” and “Approach to Infections in Stem Cell Transplant Recipients.” The sessions also focused on addressing the complexities of providing organ support to cancer patients and how to optimise care based on individual needs and circumstances.
