Centre For Sight, a leading nationwide network in ophthalmology, has announced a strategic collaboration with Laxmi Eye Hospital, an established eye care provider with over three decades of experience. This collaboration is a Joint Venture (JV) with 51 per cent stakes held by Centre For Sight and 49 per cent stakes held by Laxmi Eye. The partnership marks a significant step in Centre For Sight’s expansion strategy, increasing its presence in Maharashtra to nine centres.

Currently, Centre For Sight serves over a million patients annually across 82 centres in 40 cities from 15 states of India, supported by more than 350 expert doctors and approximately 2,700 professional staff.

Laxmi Eye Hospital, founded in 1989, has served over 2.5 million patients across its four locations in Panvel, Khargar, Dombivili, and Kamothe. It offers comprehensive eye care services, including bladeless cataract surgery, under the leadership of Dr Suhas Haldipurkar, a pioneer of the Phaco technique, with more than 40 years of experience.

Dr Suhas Haldipurkar, Medical Director at Laxmi Eye Hospital, remarked, “We are proud to join hands with Centre For Sight, an institution that shares our dedication to clinical excellence. Together, we will continue to build on our legacy and provide patients with the best possible in eye care.”

In the past year, Centre For Sight has expanded through ten brownfield collaborations, including partnerships with Fazili Eyecare in Srinagar, I Max Eye Care Hospital in Sikar, Kakathiya Eye Hospital in Warangal, Drishti Eye Hospital in Badlapur, and Rushabh Eye Hospital & Laser Centre in Chembur. Additionally, six greenfield centres have been launched in Bhiwani, Palwal, Jammu, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, and Gurugram, further bolstering the network’s presence in Northern India.

Centre For Sight plans to continue seeking collaboration opportunities in Western India as part of its “Go Deep and Go Wide” strategy, aiming to add 15-20 centres annually and reach 150 centres in the next four years. The organisation is set to invest INR 300-500 crore over the coming years to support this expansion.

The recent strategic investment from ChrysCapital has accelerated Centre For Sight’s growth plans. Raghav Ramdev, Managing Director at ChrysCapital, stated, “The healthcare sector in India is a key area of focus for ChrysCapital given the significantly underserved market and the potential for share gain for organised players.”

Prof Dr Mahipal Singh Sachdev, Chairman and Medical Director at Centre For Sight, emphasised the importance of these collaborations, saying, “Our strategic collaboration with Laxmi Eye Hospital and other prominent centres in Mumbai underscores our unwavering commitment to delivering the highest standard of eye care. These collaborations not only enhance our capacity to meet the region’s increasing needs but also exemplify the broader trend in healthcare, where consolidation is key to extending the reach of world-class services.”
