BFI to support a project on identifying genetic and epigenetic factors on recurrent urinary tract infections under their BFI-BIOME program
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi has collaborated with Blockchain For Impact (BFI) to enhance biomedical research and innovation in the public health sector. The announcement was made at a ceremony in AIIMS Delhi, where the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged between the two organisations.
Under this partnership, BFI will support a project exploring genetic and epigenetic factors to identify potential marks for recurrent urinary tract infections. Recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTI) represent a major healthcare and economic burden with a significant impact on patient’s morbidity and quality of life. This project, led by Dr Sarita Mohapatra, Additional Professor, Department of Microbiology at AIIMS Delhi is funded under the BFI-BIOME Medical INI Grant Program, which supports Medical Institutes of National Importance (INIs) through the Blockchain For Impact Biomedical Virtual Network (BFI-BIOME). This network, created by BFI, aims to foster multisectoral collaboration, support upstream and deep science research and drive innovation to strengthen biomedical research in India.
Reflecting on the partnership, Dr M Srinivas, Director, AIIMS Delhi, stated, “At AIIMS New Delhi, we are committed to advancing healthcare innovation through cutting-edge research and technology. The support from the BFI-BIOME Medical INI Grant Program enables us to explore new frontiers in medical science, empowering our faculty and researchers to make transformative contributions to global healthcare.”

As part of our continued commitment, BFI has forged collaborations with top institutes like IISc, CSIR-CDRI, CSIR-CCMB, IIT Bombay, BRIC-THSTI, FNDR, TCG CREST, Venture Center, AIC-CCMB, IKP Knowledge Park and the currently open call for BFI-BIOME Support for Advancement in Medical and Applied Research for Transformative Healthcare (SAMARTH) grant aims to accelerate biomedical research to improve patient care in India.”
