Bangalore Commissioner inaugurates emergency department at Manipal Hospital

Today, Jyoti Prakash Mirji, Commisioner of Police, Bangalore, inaugurated an Accident and Emergency Department at Manipal Hospital Bangalore.

The Emergency Department at Manipal Hospital is divided into two departments, adult emergency and paediatric emergency. The new department has a dedicated triage unit, a resuscitation area and cardiac monitors for all the beds. The department is equipped with all kinds of medical as well as surgical emergencies, including X-ray, ECG and EKG machines. The department also runs courses in basic and advanced cardiac life support under the American Heart Association. There is a fellowship programme for doctors in emergency medicine under the Manipal University. The department also trains doctors for the MCEM programme.

Dr H Sudarshan Ballal, Chairman – Medical Advisory Board & Medical Director, Manipal Hospitals underlining the importance emergency services said, “It is a well-accepted fact that a patient who receives basic care from the trained professionals and is transported to the healthcare facility in time has the greatest chance of survival. Emergency service is an essential part of the overall healthcare system, as it saves lives by providing the required care immediately. With the inauguration of our new A&E Department, we aim to provide the best in emergency care to our patients.”
