The pathology department at the first hospital in India to receive NABL accreditation and College of American Pathology (CAP). Strengths
BM Birla Heart Research Centre is a one-stop solution to all heart-related problems. The centre has been incorporated with latest generation of cardiac equipments like Philips Allura F D 10 which is the latest cardiac care system having special features such as stent boost. There is also 3D reconstruction mapping DSA refraction facility which is the first in eastern region which can be compared to international standards. It also has a rotablator system for CTO calcified lesion. In the echocardiography department it has a 3-dimensional echocardiography which can be done on adult, paediatric patients as well as on foetal. The centre also has a department of Nuclear Medicine which has an unique Dual Head ‘INFINIA’ Gamma Camera which would provide economic and accurate non-invasive diagnosis of artery disease. The centre has set up a ‘Lifestyle and Rehabilitation Clinic’, the first of its kind in Eastern India.
Cost-effective & transparent
BM Birla Heart ensures quality of treatment and value for money. It is a ‘not for profit’ hospital so the charges are reasonable. As the hospital is run by a trust which does not aim at profit, it aims to provide quality cardiac care compared to the quality of treatment to all patients across all sections.
Special programme known as ‘Healing Little Hearts …’ has been initiated, where every year a number of subsidised surgeries are conducted on girl children having cardiac problem in collaboration with Rotary and other organisations. These children come from economically challenged background and their smile is what is the greatest reward for the hospital.
Other than these, we offer subsidised package in executive health check up schemes and free heart check up and heart camps. The billing procedure of the centre is totally transparent and the charges have been displayed on the centre’s website and at the reception desk, which is actually billed to the patients.
State-of-the-art infra
BM Birla Heart was started as a super specialty hospital dedicated exclusively to the diagnosis, treatment and research related to cardio thoracic and vascular diseases. It was started more than two decades back to provide world-class heart care to the people in India and neighbouring countries. The centre being a super speciality cardiac hospital, dedicates 53-bedded CCU exclusively for cardiac emergencies, the CCU has two units (CCU1 & CCU2) fully equipped with the latest upgraded gadgets like Haemodynamic cardio monitors, ventilators, BIPAP machines oxymetres fluronoscope, Echo machines, ABG machine. The CCU is manned round-the-clock by a very dedicated team of medical officers specially trained in clinical cardiology and bedside emergency, interventional procedures.
The CCU plays a key role in preparing the patients for primary PTCA which is the key lifesaving therapeutic interventional therapy for acute heart attack. A fully dedicated primary PTCA team is functional round the clock including the CCU doctors, nurses, cath-lab technician and interventional cardiologist. The key role of CCU is to prepare and send the patient to cathlab keeping the door to balloon time less than 90 minutes. The cath lab department has ultra-modern cardiac catheterisation of laboratories. There are three modern OTs, where efficient cardiac surgeon, cardiac anesthesiologists and perfusionists are present round the clock. Some of the cases which are performed here are patients with extra risk factors (as per risk score) or CABG + ASD /VSD, Double Valve +CABG, Redosurgery, Double Valve Replacement, Single Valve +CABG, CABG +Carotid Edarterectomy Aortaneurysm or Aortic dissection.

BM Birla has been awarded the CII – Quality Award in SSI category. The institute has secured the 1st position in ‘Total Quality Management’. It is the first hospital to receive ‘Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award’ in 2007 and ‘Jamnalal Bajaj Award for Fair ‘Business Practices’.
