Goa Institute of Management (GIM) has added a new program to its bouquet of existing courses – the Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management (PGDM – HCM).
The programme which is expected to be conducted from GIM’s Ribandar campus and will reportedly provide participants an in-depth exposure to various facets of the healthcare delivery process, the economics of health (different payee – payer- provider models), understanding hospital services, planning and delivery, and quality management in healthcare.
Dr Sunil Rai, Director, GIM, “Healthcare, as an industry in India has grown to become one of the most promising and progressive sectors in recent times. Obviously it needs better and effective management of the sector to reveal optimum results and opportunities. Realising the potential and needs of this sector, Goa Institute of Management has designed a post graduate diploma in healthcare management – the PGDM – HCM program – which has opened its door to students from this academic year.”
The two year full time residential programme boasts of a dedicated experienced healthcare management faculty, interactions with industry experts and access to an exhaustive and comprehensive collection of databases. Field based experentials including visits to hospitals and pharmaceutical plants and projects on the workings of primary health centres as well as large corporate hospitals are also supposedly part of the curriculum. On completion of the course, graduates from this program will be well qualified to understand and respond to the issues and challenges faced by the healthcare industry, promise the institute.
