The International Biologics Orthopaedic Meet (IBOM 2014), an initiative of Dr LH Hiranandani Hospital was recently held in Mumbai. The event saw participation from around 200 doctors from across the country. It provided a platform to discuss developments and innovations in the field of ortho biology with an aim to increase awareness on sports medicine in India.
The conference was organised in collaboration with Hiranandani Orthopaedic Medical Education (HOME), the orthopaedic research division of the Dr LH Hiranandani Hospital, and the Biological Orthopaedic Society, USA.
Biological Orthopaedic therapy is fast becoming the most popular treatment option in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine worldwide. A number of options including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) and stem cell therapy are the treatments available for orthopaedic surgeons today.
Commenting on this initiative, Dr Vijay Shetty, Organising Chairman, IBOM 2014, stated, “We are delighted with the success of IBOM 2014. The objective of the meet was to exchange thoughts and knowledge with eminent national and international experts who have spent considerable time in this field. And we have successfully managed to achieve the objective with the help of the renowned experts in the field.”

The prominent national faculty included Deepak Goyal, Dinshaw Pardiwala, Jaspal Sandhu, Mandeep Dhillon, Nicholas Antao, Roshan Wade, Sanjeev Jain, Yajuvendra Gawai, and Vaibhav Bagaria. The international faculty included Dr Allan Mishra, Dr Richard Villar, and Dr Vikas Khanduja among others.
