Department of Vascular Surgery, Medanta – The Medicity organised the 4th annual training course for the doctors-in-training. Over 75 attendees received personal hands-on training in color Doppler ultrasound examination and to teach doctors how to repair blood vessels (suturing techniques) etc.
The two-day seminar was organised for the surgeons and physicians in training to spread the message that amputations are preventable and early diagnosis can help to save precious limbs. Recently, special drug coated balloons have been used to open and keep the arteries opened so that the ulcers heal in these diabetic patients. The Dept of Vascular Surgery uses these balloons to improve the outcomes in diabetic patients in order to avoid amputation.
Dr Rajiv Parakh, Chairman, Division of Peripheral & Endovascular Sciences, Medanta The Medicity, Gurgaon, also announced the launch of the Rapid Action Task Force, which is available round-the-clock and aims to save the leg, especially in trauma or acute blood vessel blockage situation.
