Sancheti Hospital joins hands with German firms for charity project

Sancheti Hospital, Pune alongwith German companies, Ceramtec Company and LINK Implant Manufacturing Company has embarked on a charity project for the benefit of poor patients suffering from arthritis of hip joints in India. Ceramtec company from Stuttgart, Germany manufacturing ceramic ball and cup are the sole suppliers of implant for the patients all over the world. Another part of hip replacement operation, the stem and shell which is manufactured by the LINK Company, Hamburg, Germany.

In India, statistical data indicates that 15 per cent of population which is almost 150 million are suffering from crippled disease of arthritis. Every year about 3,75,000 patients require joint replacement operation but only 70 to 75 thousand are being done. The remaining patients are deprived of the much needed relief due to unaffordability.

Hence, the charity project envisages these companies providing 200 hip implants for less than 50 per cent cost for the poor and middle class and needy patients. Sancheti Institute in turn will also subsidise their cost as regards 50 per cent reduction in surgeon and anesthetist charges.

Free diagnostic camps will be conducted on Sundays once a month and deserving patients will be identified for benefit of concession on first come first basis.
