The Indian School of Business (ISB) has announced a collaboration with AIG Hospitals, a gastroenterology institution to merge the capabilities of AI with the clinical experience of Indian doctors. Designed as the ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Healthcare Programme’, it aims to enhance patient experience.
The initiative – ‘AI in Healthcare Programme’ addresses the significant challenge of clinician involvement in tech innovation. The Max Institute of Healthcare Management (MIHM), an interdisciplinary research institute at ISB, will be the principal knowledge partner in this collaboration which aims to create an unparalleled platform for healthcare innovation in India. The programme is being co-developed by researchers at MIHM, ISB and clinicians from AIG Hospitals to empower healthcare leaders with advanced AI skills and understand AI’s implementation in clinical practices which will potentially elevate patient outcomes in both diagnostic as well as therapeutic aspects.
Delivered by ISB Executive Education, the programme is structured into two phases, conducted every six months for predominantly senior doctors and health-tech leaders. The initial phase focuses on design thinking and strategic alignment of AI technology with patient-care objectives. The subsequent phase involves creating technology competence amongst the participants, which will allow them, post-programme, to successfully identify and implement AI-led projects in their respective fields. This programme aims for the participants to gain insights and skills to recognise and address opportunities and barriers in AI implementation, tackle unmet clinical needs with innovative solutions, and develop AI-driven business models that enhance clinical excellence and patient care.
Guided by industry stalwarts, academic visionaries and international experts, the programme will be led by Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman, AIG Hospitals, Sarang Deo, Deputy Dean – Faculty and Research and, Executive Director – Max Institute of Healthcare Management, Dr Prateek Sharma, President – ASGE (American Society of GI Endoscopy) and AIGI, Dr Rakesh Kalapala, Director – Endoscopy (Centre for Obesity and Metabolic Therapy) and Kinjal Saxena, CTO, AIG Hospitals.
