78 year old brain dead patient from Vasai save 2 lives

Organ transplant surgery was conducted in Wockhardt Hospital, Mira Road.

Wockhardt hospital successfully preformed organ transplantation in two patients. The patients received the organs from a brain dead patients named Koroth Gopalan (age 78). Gopalan was caught in small accident while morning walks in Vasai. His hand got fracture and after accident he lost his control on his body. Aftzer admission in Wockhardt hospital on September 12, 2017 doctors conducted all advanced medical test where doctors found he is in brain dead condition. After waiting one day in hospital on September 14, 2017, Goplan family decided to donate his organ. Organ transplant surgery conducted in late evening on September 15, 2017 in Wockhardt Hospital, Mira Road.

Dr Rajesh Kumar, Nephrologists and Transplant surgeon, Wockhardt Hospital, Mira Road said , “Considering Goplan age his one kidney might was not useful for the patient who require Kidney so we transplanted his both kidney to one patient from Malad (Male age 50) who was on dialysis from 6 years. Now this patient is doing well and he is passing 250 ml urine per hour.”

Dr Anurag Srimal -Liver Transplant surgeon, Wockhardt Hospital, Mira Road said, “Donor’s liver was in well condition despite of his age and we immediately took decision to transplant his liver to the person (male age 56) who was suffering NASH related Cirrhosis from last 3 years.”
