AIG hospitals to invest INR 800 crore in first DynamicARC Proton Therapy System

AIG Hospitals partners with IBA to bring advanced cancer care to India with a new Proton Beam Therapy system

AIG Hospitals has announced the acquisition of the Proteus ONE Proton Therapy System, including the DynamicARC delivery technique, from Belgium-based proton therapy specialist IBA. This installation will be the first of its kind in South-East Asia, marking a significant step in the hospital’s efforts to provide advanced cancer care in India.

Proton Beam Therapy is a precise form of radiation therapy that targets tumours with exceptional accuracy, minimising damage to surrounding healthy tissues. It is particularly effective for treating complex cancers, including those in children and in areas near critical organs.

The new Proteus ONE Proton Therapy System will be integrated into AIG Hospitals’ upcoming 300-bedded dedicated Oncology Centre at its Gachibowli campus in Hyderabad. The facility, which represents an INR 800 crore investment, will offer comprehensive cancer care services, making it the third Proton Therapy Centre in India and the first in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

“At AIG Hospitals, our unwavering commitment is to place patients at the heart of everything we do. The acquisition of the Proton Beam Therapy System and the strategic partnership with IBA represent a transformative step forward in our mission to provide cutting-edge, compassionate care,” said Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of AIG Hospitals.

Dr Reddy added that the new Oncology Centre will enable the hospital to offer cancer care comparable to the best facilities in the world.

PVS Raju, Vice Chairman of AIG Hospitals, highlighted the strategic importance of the acquisition, “The acquisition of Proton Beam Therapy technology aligns perfectly with AIG Hospitals’ vision of providing world-class cancer care within India. This cutting-edge treatment option will further enhance the hospital’s comprehensive suite of cancer care services, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, supportive care, clinical research, and training.”

The addition of the DynamicARC Proton Therapy System at AIG Hospitals reflects the institution’s focus on adopting advanced technologies to improve treatment outcomes and accessibility for patients in the region.
