Apollo Hospital Navi Mumbai felicitates organ donors across cities

18 organ donors from Indore, Nashik, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai were felicitated

Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai recently organised Organ Donor Support Group meet in Mumbai by felicitating organ donors and relatives of the family for saving patient’s lives by donating their organs. After completing one year in the city, the hospital conducted 16 liver transplants (deceased donor liver transplant – 6 and living donor liver transplant – 10) and 12 renal transplants (deceased donor renal transplant – 4 and living donor renal transplant – 8). About 18 donors from Indore, Nashik, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai were felicitated by Prof Darius F Mirza, Head, HPB & Transplant, Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai.

Highlighting necessity for organ donation Mirza said, “There are many patients with end stage organ failure and are in need of organs. There is still lack of awareness and myths among people on organ donation. The support group meet educates on organ donation and also values the contribution of saving a life.

The felicitation programme was followed by session on diet management, dos and don’ts for pre and post-transplant patients.
