More than 100 people received free heart check-up as a part of the initiative
Asian Heart Institute in association with Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS) had organised a heart screening camp on January 25-26, 2020 on the island.
The camp was supervised by Dr AK Mandal, Director, Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS), Port Blair and under the offices of the Lieutenant Governor Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi. More than 100 people (including children and adults) received free heart check-up as a part of this initiative. Senior cardiologist Dr Santosh Kumar Dora and other cardiologists present at the camp conducted essential heart screening tests such as ECG (electrocardiogram), Echocardiogram and stress test apart from giving cardiac consultation.
“It is crucial to undergo regular physical exams that include tests to see if you are at risk for cardiovascular disease. It is always advisable to go in for a complete health check-up at least once a year,” said Dr Ramakanta Panda, Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgeon and Vice Chairman, Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai, who was also present at the camp.
