In association with the Basal Ganglia Support Group, Brains Hospital is organising an event on April 7 to educate and empower patients of Parkinson’s Disease and their caregivers.
The event at the Infantry Road premises of the Hospital will commemorate the World Parkinson’s Day, which is observed globally on April 11 on the birthday of Dr James Parkinson, who was the first to describe the disease in his ‘An Essay on the Shaking Palsy’ in 1817.
At the event, patients and caregivers of Parkinson’s will be counseled by eminent experts—neurologists, neurosurgeons, physiotherapists and speech and occupational therapists—on the best ways of dealing with the disease. The experts will also update them on the latest research and breakthroughs in the diagnosis, treatment and management of the disease. The event is open for free participation for all Parkinson patients and their care givers.
