Belle Vue Clinic to invest Rs 549 crores to expand its operations in Kolkata

Plans to come up with a new hospital in Rajarhat near Kolkata and a nursing school-cum-college

Kolkata-based Belle Vue Clinic, the multi-speciality hospital from MP Birla Group, plans to set up a new hospital in Rajarhat, New Town. Besides, there are plans to come up with an eye hospital and nursing school-cum-college.

Speaking to Express Healthcare, P Tondon, CEO, Belle Vue Clinic said, “We are expanding our operations in the city and setting up a new 400 bedded hospital and 100 bedded eye hospital in Rajarhat, New Town.”

The new multi-speciality hospital will come up on a two-acre land near HIDCO in Rajarhat, New Town and will have a built-up area of more than 3 lakh sq feet. The eye hospital with a built-up area of nearly 90,000 sq feet too will come up in Rajarhat, New Town and will offer a variety of refractive surgery and general ophthalmology treatment to the patients. Construction for all the projects will start soon and is likely to be completed within the next three and half years.

Belle Vue Clinic will also set up a nursing school-cum-college at the satellite township for GNM and B Sc nursing courses for 400 students.

Tandon said, “Added to this, we are also planning to expand our existing facility at Minto Park in South Kolkata by adding 70 beds. The new facility will generally focus on nephrology and daycare.”

Tandon further said, “The total cost of the entire expansion programme is pegged at Rs 549 crores, out of which Rs 400 crores will be invested in the new hospital. The nursing school will be set up at a cost of Rs 75 crores. The eye hospital will entail an investment of Rs 66 crores and the expansion of the existing facility in South Kolkata will see an investment of Rs 8 crores,” he added.

Funding for these will be mostly through internal accruals and under CSR activities of MP Birla Group Companies.
