Centrum recently published a survey titled ‘The Centrum India Health Survey,’ conducted in collaboration with Kantar to mark World Nutrition Day on May 28. This detailed study of over 2,000 Indians, spanning across gender, age group and geographies, assessed their nutritional status, understanding of their daily diet, and the top health concerns that affect Indians across various life stages.

The survey reveals several key insights about health concerns among Indians. On average, Indians actively manage four health concerns, with these concerns increasing with age. Among adults, 48 per cent are worried about low immunity, 43 per cent about low energy, and other significant concerns include bone and digestive health.

Health issues such as metabolic health, low energy, and bone and joint problems peak among those aged 50 and above. For children, the primary concerns are immunity (55 per cent), growth (33 per cent), and energy (30 per cent).

Despite these widespread concerns, only 4 per cent of urban Indians take health supplements daily. This low percentage can be attributed to 52 per cent of the population believing that their diet and home remedies are sufficient, highlighting a gap in nutrition supplementation.

In response to these findings, Centrum India launched the initiative ‘Your Nutrition Matters,’ aimed at spreading knowledge to bridge this gap.

According to the statement, “This campaign is dedicated to educating the Indians about their body’s nutritional requirements, with a special focus on daily Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA). Additionally, the Your Nutrition Matters initiative encourages people to explore the benefits of multivitamins, as a supplement to diet, for meeting their RDAs and ensuring optimal health.”
