Dalmia Medicare forays into diagnostic industry

Plans to expand pan India in the next two years

With a vision to revolutionise the diagnostics industry through an innovative and disruptive model, Dalmia Medicare, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dalmia Biz, intends to become the largest organised player in India’s diagnostic sector.

Launching Dalmia Medicare in New Delhi recently, Sanjay Dalmia, Chairman, Dalmia Group, said the company will work with a chain of non-branded labs in the National Capital Region (NCR). It will offer pathology and radiology services and share revenues with the labs.

“The Indian healthcare industry is growing at an exponential rate, however, there is still healthcare deficit in the country. Dalmia Medicare is well equipped to cater to the needs of all kinds of consumers, ensuring both accessibility and quality. The diagnostics segment is highly unorganised and presents a big opportunity,” Dalmia said.

India has more than 50,000 path labs and the company targets to capture 10 per cent of this market soon.

“On an average, these labs earn Rs 5 to 10 lakhs per month. If we cover at least 5,000 labs, the company can easily target business worth Rs 500 crore per month,” he added.

Dalmia Medicare has 32 labs across the NCR and targets to expand it to 350 by March 2017 in the region. The company also plans to expand pan India in the next two years.

Dalmia Medicare plans to cater to pharmacies, doctor clinics, small and medium nursing homes, alternative medicine and fitness centres, etc, the firm said. Further, there are plans to expand to education, retail, finance, travel and tourism, real estate and hospitality sector.
