DR. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre under the support of the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) scheme has launched cochlear implant program for deaf-mute children.

The first Cochlear implant surgery took place on November 5, 2023, under the mentorship of Prof. Dr Hetal Marfatia, HOD, Department of ENT, KEM Mumbai. Dr Vinod Shinde, Professor, Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre and Dr Mubarak Khan, an Adjunct Professor at the same department, provided assistance.
