Fernandez Hospital announced the launch of a Children’s Eye Clinic in partnership with L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) at their Necklace Road clinic. The clinic will provide comprehensive eye care services for children aged 0 to 16 years. The paediatric ophthalmology team at LVPEI, a WHO collaborating centre for the prevention of blindness and India’s premier comprehensive eye health facility, will provide the services.
Dr Evita Fernandez, Chairperson and Managing Director, Fernandez Foundation, stated, “Our goal is to provide comprehensive care for children and newborns, which includes eye care. When children visit us for routine health checks or vaccinations, it is essential to check for eye conditions as well.
According to the statement, the clinic will screen, diagnose and treat various eye health conditions in children, including refractive errors, squint, eye allergies and infections, congenital cataracts, congenital glaucoma, and retinal diseases. The clinic intends to use modern technology for Tele- Ophthalmology services apart from periodic visits by Paediatric Ophthalmologists from LVPEI
Dr Prashant Garg, Executive Chair, LVPEI, commented, “We are excited to collaborate with Fernandez Hospital to bring specialised paediatric eye care to the community. This partnership will enhance our ability to reach more children in need of eye care services and provide them with the best possible treatment.”
