Holistic Healthcare Summit is another step towards realising the Prime Minister’s ‘Healthcare for All’
The Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the holistic healthcare summit at Gandhinagar. The healthcare summit has been organised as a pre-event of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, which is being organised for the tenth episode of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, which has strengthened Gujarat’s reputation as a global destination.
Inaugurating the Summit, Gujarat CM appreciated the global recognition and fame of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit under the leadership of PM.
PM Modi has made the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit a take-off point for holistic development. The Vibrant Summit has proved to be the perfect platform for world class development of social sectors such as infrastructure, education, urban development, healthcare for human resource development in line with the development of industries, the CM added.
Inaugurating the summit with the theme of ‘Holistic Healthcare – Good Health and Well Being for All’, the Chief Minister said that for building a healthy society and a healthy nation, it is necessary to have strong health services- primary health facilities. He added that this pre-vibrant health summit is yet another step towards realising the PM’s healthcare for all.
Under the guidance of the PM, Gujarat has developed a healthcare ecosystem in which government and private as well as corporate and PPP based healthcare institutes provide services ranging from preventive healthcare to technological treatment of complex diseases, health insurance, medical tourism.
In Gujarat, the flow of health services has reached the last man easily. Gujarat ranks first in the country with 8800 health and wellness centres. For the first time in the state, 350 million US dollars have been raised by the World Bank. The dollar amount has been approved for strengthening health and wellness. He also added that the Gujarat is the only state that provides the treatment of radiotherapy with robotic machines like cyber knife in government-run cancer hospitals.
CM Patel said that under the guidance of the PM, Gujarat has become the pharma hub of the country. Gujarat accounts for 40 per cent of the country’s total pharma production and 28 per cent of pharma exports. In the medical devices sector also, Gujarat is at the forefront with a contribution of 53 per cent in the country. Gujarat accounts for 78 percent of cardiac stents and 50 per cent of eye lenses. By developing medical devices and bulk drug parks in Rajkot and Jambusar, we must continue the tradition of being at the forefront of this too.
The CM also invited the leaders of pharma and healthcare sector to set up pharma industries in bulk drug park of Gujarat on this occasion.
The CM said that with the vision of the PM, our entire health record has now become digital today. 60 lakh people have benefited from tele-consultation and telemedicine in Gujarat in the last two years. Patel also added that robotics and artificial intelligence technology have come in the health sector, there have been collective efforts made in Gujarat to increase its scope.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the collective brainstorming to be held at this holistic healthcare summit will make “Good Health and Wellbeing for All” a reality in the country’s Amrit kaal.
Terming the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit as the first Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit of India’s Amrit kaal, the health minister Hrishikesh Patel said that PM Modi had sown the seeds of the Vibrant Summit in the year 2003 for the continuous development and future of Gujarat. This Summit has become a tree today and has also become a role model for the entire world. As a result of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, Gujarat has witnessed all-round development and in almost every field, the state is taking the leap of development. During these 20 years, Gujarat has witnessed development, prosperity, peace, security, industrialisation, best healthcare services and quality education. At the same time, Gujarat is also playing a role in the development of the country.
He added that Gujarat and especially the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit will play an important role in fulfilling the dream of PM Modi for a “Viksit Bharat @ 2047”. As a result of the Vibrant Summit held in Gujarat, MoUs worth crores of rupees signed in Gujarat, as well as employment generated by many global organisations investing in Gujarat, which has benefitted the citizens of the state. Industrial employment in the state has increased from 7 lakh in 2003 to 23 lakh today. Moving in the same direction, this pre-vibrant health summit will play an important role in keeping Gujarat at the forefront of the medical and pharma sector.
Describing the development of Gujarat in the health sector, Patel said that Gujarat has increased medical colleges by 233 per cent and medical seats by 360 per cent in the last 20 years. In the year 2010, Gujarat had only 11 dialysis centres, which has increased to 25 times i.e. 272 today. Day-care chemotherapy has increased by three times and 108 ambulance service by 16 times. PHC, CHCs, sub-district hospitals, dialysis units, cataract operations, pharma manufacturing units, sales units have also increased progressively, he added.
Dhananjay Dwivedi, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, made clear the objective of the Summit. Sessions on promoting pharma and medical devices sector, technology transforming healthcare and promoting healthcare were held during the day. Dr Kotecha, Director, AYUSH, Government of India; Harshad Patel, Commissioner, Health, and senior officials of the Health Department participated with the leaders of the healthcare and pharma sector.
