Union health minister assures of addressing the issues
Health ministers of North Eastern (NE) states sought the intervention of JP Nadda, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, to look into the shortage of faculty members in North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in Shillong, Meghalaya.
Alexander Hek, Health Minister, Meghalaya, who was accompanied by his counterparts from other North Eastern states, urged Nadda to fill various vacant positions in teaching and non-teaching departments.
Alo Libang, Health and Family Welfare Minister, Arunachal Pradesh, S Pangyu Phom, Health and Family Welfare Minister, Nagaland, L Jayantakumar Singh, Health and Family Welfare Minister, Manipur, Arjun Kumar Ghatani, Health and Family Welfare Minister, Sikkim and Pijush Hazarika, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Assam were present at the meeting.
The North East Health Ministers also raised the issue of de-recognition of the Post Graduate course at NEIGRIHMS with the Union minister and requested him for his personal intervention.
Following the meeting, Nadda assured the ministers that the problems will be addressed and he will soon call a meeting of NEIGRIHMS Governing Council.
