ISIC organises nursing conference

This one-day conference dealt with day-to-day issues related to hospital infections and various aspects of patients and environment safety

Indian Spinal Injuries Centre’s nursing department and infection control team organised a one-day conference on ‘Strategic Management in Hospital Infection Control’ recently. The aim of the conference was to continue the sustained efforts towards nursing excellence in achieving patients’ safety.

This one-day conference dealt with day-to-day issues related to hospital infections and various aspects of patients and environment safety. Dr Giridhar Gyani, Director General (AHPI) inaugurated the conference and highlighted the vital role that nurses play in infection control. Around 150 nurses from various hospitals attended the conference.

Dr PH Mishra, Medical Superintendent, ISIC gave an overview on ‘Infection Control and Prevention’. Dr Sunil Sharma, Chairperson of Infection Control, ISIC gave a talk on ‘Scientific Perspective-Concerning the Microbial Threat to Patient Safety.’ Dr Pallavi Banarjee, Infection Control Officer, ISIC spoke on ‘Isolation Practices and Overcoming Challenges with Limited Resources.’ Deepu Vijay, Clinical Instructor- Infection Control spoke on ‘Nursing Perspective of Surveillance of Healthcare Associated Infections.’ Other major topics covered were ‘Measures to Minimise Surgery Associated Infections in OR’ and ‘Ventilation Standards and Infection Prevention in Critical Units.’
