India’s healthcare hirings sees surge, climbing from 47% in 2024 to 52% in H1 2025

A recent report released by TeamLease EdTech highlights a significant surge in healthcare hiring across metropolitan cities such as Bangalore, Delhi, and Chennai. Building on the previous year’s trends, the Career Outlook Report (COR) 2025 HY1 reveals a 52 per cent hiring intent for the healthcare sector between January and June 2025—a 5 per cent increase from July to December 2024. This growth is attributed to advancements in digital health solutions, the expansion of diagnostic services, and an increasing demand for specialised care professionals.

The report underscores the critical role of skilled professionals in advancing accessible, technology-driven healthcare solutions across India.

Shantanu Rooj, Founder and CEO TeamLease Edtech, said, “With hospitals and healthcare providers integrating AI-driven diagnostics, telemedicine, and data-driven treatment models, the demand for skilled professionals has intensified. Additionally, increased investments in research and medical infrastructure are fueling opportunities in emerging healthcare hubs. The healthcare market is projected to reach $638 billion by 2025, creating abundant opportunities for job seekers”.

The demand for healthcare professionals in India is witnessing a significant shift, with the highest need for medical transcriptionists observed in Bangalore, where demand stands at an impressive 65 per cent. Delhi follows closely with a 60 per cent demand for clinical data analysts. Other key roles also show notable interest, such as pharmacy technicians in Gurugram, at 58 per cent, phlebotomists at 55 per cent, and dieticians at 51 per cent.

Interestingly, tier 2 cities are emerging as vibrant hubs for the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. For instance, Gurugram leads the way with a robust 58 per cent intent for medical transcriptionists. Other cities such as Coimbatore show a promising 41 per cent demand for phlebotomists, while Kochi has a 50 per cent demand for clinical data analysts. Nagpur is also noteworthy with a 52 per cent demand for pharmacy technicians, and Kochi again appears with a 49 per cent demand for the same role.

As aspiring professionals consider pursuing careers in the healthcare industry, several certification courses are gaining prominence. These in-demand programs include applied clinical data analysis, medical reference application, pharmacy technician certification, data management, clinical documentation software training, laboratory and phlebotomy software, and automated transcription applications, among others. These certifications aim to enhance skill sets but also align with the growing needs of the healthcare landscape.
