Mary Kom spoke on the significance of timely vaccination, how it helps providing a healthier life to children
Ace Indian Olympian boxer Mary Kom was recently seen at an awareness drive at Matrisudha, Basti Vikas Kendra, New Delhi. At the event, she extensively spoke about preventive healthcare for children, including her own. In the past, due to lack of awareness, prevention in the form of vaccination was not given much importance even by mothers, however the scenario has changed drastically. For most women now, their child’s health has become a priority, and when it comes to their health and well-being, they are willing to move mountains. Under the aegis of Swasth Immunised India campaign, recently, even Kareena Kapoor Khan endorsed the need to immunise children against diseases such as Measles, Diphtheria, Polio.
Lending her voice to Swasth Immunised India – a nationwide vaccination and immunisation campaign, Mary Kom spoke about the significance of getting timely vaccination and how it helps in providing a healthier life to children. Delving deep into the topic, she highlighted that while having a busy schedule, she took out time for her children to take them for vaccinations on time. She overcame the challenges and obstacles that came her way, but she always focussed on keeping her children healthy and physically fit. She said, “I am glad to be a part of this initiative ‘Swasth Immunised India’ led by SII. Being a mother of three children, it is extremely important for me to ensure that my children lead a healthy and improved life. I understand the value of immunising my children to protect them from critical diseases. Like all babies my children too, especially the twins, did get uneasy on the first day of vaccination, but then it’s important and I always follow my doctor’s advice and go for timely vaccination.”
While work-life balance is a challenging goal for working parents, more and more mothers are understanding the importance of providing their children with proper nourishment and timely healthcare solutions. Celebrity moms like Kareena and Mary have taken on the mandate to educate and influence every parent, especially in marginalised sections of society, to keep their children healthy and disease-free.
