The cops were educated about the importance of pap Smear test and breast examination
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Motherhood Hospital, Kharghar, in association with Federation of Obstetric & Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) and Navi Mumbai Obstetric & Gynecological Society (NMOGS) organised health check-ups for Lady Cops of Kharghar, Kalamboli and Kamothe by offering them free gynaecological consultations, pap smear test and breast examination in the hospital. A team of gynaecologists consisting of Dr Surabhi Siddhartha, Consultant, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Motherhood Hospital, Kharghar, Dr Sapna Choudhuri, Dr Anu Vij and Dr Pratima Thamke conducted the check-ups.
Dr Siddhartha, highlighted, “It is the responsibility of police officers to protect the citizens and the city. Likewise, it is also our duty to come forward and do our bit to help them take charge of their health instead of neglecting it. Lady Cops have erratic schedules and hectic lifestyles, and are always on their toes due to which they find it difficult to take out time for themselves.”
She further added, “This free screening for cervical cancer, breast cancer, and other gynaecological issues can allow early detection and proper treatment if any of the women have these conditions. The lad cops complained about period pain and other problems such as white discharge, and their problems were addressed by the gynaecologists. The lady cops were taught about the importance of the pap smear test and how women above 30 should undergo this every year. They were educated about the importance of The HPV vaccine for cervical cancer that should be opted by the girls in the age group of 13-35. Likewise, they were also taught how to do a self-breast examination, every month.”
