MUHS Establishes Independent Nursing Faculty; Dr Rajesh named dean

The new facility aims to advance nursing education in Maharashtra

The  Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has recently  established Nursing as an independent faculty, recognising the importance of nurses in healthcare.

Dr Sreelekha Rajesh has been appointed as the First Dean of the faculty. Dr Rajesh, currently serves as the Professor cum Vice Principal at GMF Tehmi Grant Institute of Nursing Education (Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune). With over 25 years of experience, she has been instrumental in developing innovative nursing programs and fostering academic excellence.

Additionally, Dr Rajesh was honored with the Best Nurse Educationist award for the year 2023 by the Trained Nurses Association of India, Pune City Branch, on International Nurses Day (May 8, 2024). 

“I am honored to be appointed as the first Dean of the Nursing Faculty at Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. This is a tremendous opportunity to shape the future of nursing education and practice in Maharashtra. I extend my deepest gratitude to Honourable Vice-Chancellor Lt. General Madhuri Kanitkar (retd), Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Milind Nikumbh, Registrar Dr Rajendra Bangal, and other esteemed members of the nursing faculty. I am committed to working diligently with our talented team of educators and healthcare professionals to create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment,” stated Dr Rajesh.
