NURA to launch AI-driven health screening centre in Calicut

Plan to open 100 centres globally by 2030

NURA, an advanced diagnostic venture between Fujifilm Healthcare and Dr Kutty’s Healthcare, is all set to foray into Kerala by opening its AI-driven health screening facility in Calicut (Kozhikode). The facility was inaugurated by Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan in the presence of Teiichi Goto, President, Fujifilm; V Abdurahiman and Ayisha Kutti.

The Calicut centre is designed to screen up to 50 people a day, offering screening test experience with advanced technology, to facilitate faster and accurate detection of diseases at very early stages. Currently, the centre offers Cancer and Metabolic syndrome screening but Locomotive syndrome screening and treatment plan for aging society will come up soon. In addition, NURA has an expansion plan, eyeing new centres in Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad and other major Indian cities by the next year. By 2030, NURA envisions a network of 100 centers globally, making preventive healthcare accessible worldwide

About NURA’s Kerala debut, Vijayan said “We welcome NURA’s entry into Kerala as the state has a dearth of advanced yet affordable screening facilities. The demand for such services is increasing exponentially in the state as the state-funded health agencies are deficient in serving a large pool of patients. So, we welcome NURA’s presence in the state and, hopefully, the company will expand to other parts of the state, too, to offer high-quality screening test services that people desperately seek at present.”

Dr Mohamed Kasim, Executive Director, NURA Health added, “Being a traditional centre of Ayurveda and a prominent destination for wellness treatment, Kerala offers huge potential for health tourism, too. NURA’s presence in Kerala will help the state catapult its healthcare facilities into the global arena. We are confident that our centre will set new standards in the diagnostic services sector. Our expansion into Chennai, Pune Gujarat and Jaipur, and other major cities highlights our commitment to make preventive healthcare accessible to the people across the country.”

Commenting on the development, Masaharu Morita, Founder and Programme Director, NURA said, “Kerala has a good public health infrastructure, and a strong network of primary- and secondary-level treatment facilities compared to other Indian states. People have a high level of health awareness and literacy rate. However, the state also reports high incidence of lifestyle-related diseases, which often leads to serious health issues and morbidity conditions. It underscores the need of having advanced screening centres and high-quality treatment facilities in the state. NURA, with its state-of-the-art and AI-driven screening test facilities, has a decisive role to play in such a society where people are aware of the benefits of early screening, timely detection, and effective treatment of life-threatening diseases. Our partnership with FUJIFILM’s healthcare innovations allows us to bring world-class technology to serve people across India.”
