The committee discussed the framework of the ‘Recognition’ and ‘Accreditation’ programmes
The first meeting of the Technical Committee for drafting Accreditation Standards for Telemedicine met on May 4, 2020. The committee discussed the framework of the ‘Recognition’ and ‘Accreditation’ programmes. Recognition programme is meant for Registered Medical Practitioners in modern medicine and AYUSH.
This is based on the Telemedicine Guidelines published by Board of Governors in Supersession of MCI, Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) and Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH). The committee has laid out the roadmap to develop accreditation standards for organisations providing telemedicine. The committee is chaired by Dr KK Aggarwal, President, Confederation of Medical Associations of Asia and Oceania and Heart Care Foundation of India.
Other members of the committee are Prof (Dr) K Ganapathy, Director, Apollo Telemedicine Networking Foundation, Director, Apollo Tele Health Services and Past President- Telemedicine Society of India, Colonel (Dr) Ashvini Goel (Retd), Founder Member & President Elect, Telemedicine Society of India, Dr Gaurav Thukral, COO, Healthcare at Home India & Chair-QAI Technical Committee, Home Healthcare Accreditation Standards, Saurab Kochhar, Founder and CEO, Meddo and Dr Suptendra Nath Sarbadhikari, Independent Consultatnt for Digital Health, Founding Project Director (2013-17) for the Centre for Health Informatics, MOHFW, Government of India, New Delhi and WHO Expert on Digital Health. Dr BK Rana, CEO, QAI is the member secretary to the committee. The committee is indeed privilege to have representative of Telemedicine Society of India.
