The program consists of online courses for fundamentals and specialization on Skill-Lync platform, and 6 months of on-the-job training at AMTZ Campus
Skill Lync has joined hands with Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ). The partnership addresses the skill gap in the medical device industry having a massive shortage of design engineers and researchers.
The ‘Executive Master in Medical Technology’ program by Skill-Lync will span 12 months including nine fundamental courses and a specialization. Students will also receive on-the-job training by interning with a Medical Device Manufacturing Company on AMTZ campus where they will have access to an experiential learning at world-class scientific facilities of AMTZ. The coursework is a blended learning program where students will get the chance to learn via both offline and online models. It introduces students to the fundamentals of Medical devices with the option to specialise in multiple areas such as Radiology, Imaging, and optics, Electronics, Implants etc. The students have a chance to interact and learn from scientists and industry experts during the stint at AMTZ.
As part of the program, the students will take a certification exam and get skill-certified by IBSC, approved by NSDA. IBSC aims at strengthening the Biomedical Skill Sector in the country and with this objective, develop job roles supported by the National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
Dr Jitendar Sharma, Managing Director, CEO, Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone AMTZ said, “As our manufacturing sector grows more and more, there would be a huge demand and there is already an unsaturated need for hiring competent technical and technological human resources. The good thing about medical devices and biomedical engineering is that mechanical, electrical & electronics, computer science, chemical, textile engineers can all specialise to be a biomedical engineer and fill the huge vacuum that our country has. And there is no substantial Masters Program in India for Medical Technology, that’s where Skill-Lync comes in as our partner. Together, we are launching the country’s first MS program in Medical Technology.”
