Strand Life Sciences and FOGSI to drive genomic testing awareness in gynaecologic care

The cornerstone of this initiative is a comprehensive Continuing Medical Education (CME) series designed to equip gynaecologists with know-how and practical skills in genomic medicine

Strand Life Sciences has announced a partnership with the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) to spread awareness on the benefits of genomic testing for gynaecological care with a campaign named #GenomicsForHerHealth.

The cornerstone of this initiative is a comprehensive Continuing Medical Education (CME) series designed to equip gynaecologists with know-how and practical skills in genomic medicine. The series, set to launch on the 25th of October, will cover a wide array of topics such as the genetic basis of gynaecologic cancers, risk assessment strategies, and practical implementation of genetic testing programmes in clinical settings. It will also empower obstetricians and gynaecologists with the knowledge on various genetic solutions that can be leveraged.

Dr Ramesh Hariharan, CEO, Strand Life Sciences, said, “Gynaecologic cancers are among the most common cancers affecting women in India. Genomic testing has the potential to vastly improve how these cancers are detected, treated, and managed. This collaboration with FOGSI marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of women’s healthcare in India. Our vision is to empower every gynaecologist with tools and knowledge to offer personalised, genetics-informed care to patients.

“This partnership has the potential to significantly reduce the burden of cancer and improve outcomes for countless women across the nation. Studies show that hundreds of thousands of lives can be saved by genetic screening.”

FOGSI President Dr Jaydeep Tank said, “We aim to elevate women’s healthcare standards in India through partnerships to educate and increase awareness. By integrating validated genomic testing into routine gynaecological care, we will open new frontiers in preventive medicine. This initiative helps to promptly identify high-risk patients, implement more effective preventive strategies, and save lives. A continued focus on genomic research will be crucial in improving health outcomes for women across the country.”

Healthcare professionals interested in participating in this webinar series can register by visiting the Strand Life Sciences website or through FOGSI’s official portal.
