Nashik, Rajkot, Surat, Mira Road (Mumbai), Nagpur and Goa covered to spread awareness on heart healthy environment
In order to create awareness on Heart Healthy Environment on World Heart Day (September 29), Wockhardt Hospitals conducted an awareness drive on of educating and sensitizing the media, police, RTO, doctors and sportsmen, etc on how to maintain a healthy heart.
Wockhardt Hospitals emphasised upon the benefits of eating healthy, undertaking physical exercises in any form (yoga, dance and workout) and getting routine medical check-ups done. Besides, activities like cycling, skipping etc tested ‘how healthy a heart one has’! The drive kickstarted by sending a heart healthy mascot around media houses across Nasik, Rajkot, Surat, Mira Road (Mumbai), Nagpur and Goa. People enjoyed the physical activities and were actively engaged throughout all the sessions.
Talking about awareness campaign, Zahabiya Khorakiwala, MD, Wockhardt Hospitals said, “Lack of awareness on the health hazards of this lifestyle is the root cause of most problems today. According to various reports India roughly has 30 million heart patients and two lakh surgeries are being performed every year. To reduce the disease burden an all encompassing approach to combat heart disease with a focus on education and improved healthcare access is needed. Through our campaign we are sensitising people on the concept of healthy heart at the grassroots level will not only make people aware of the diseases that they might be vulnerable to but also reduce the disease burden in the country.”
As a memento, participants who won in these activities received a free membership to the ‘Happy Heart Club’– an initiative by Wockhardt Hospital for patients who have successfully undergone cardiac procedures.
