Yashoda Medicity, a new healthcare facility by Yashoda Foundations in Indirapuram, has introduced three advanced technologies in its Radiation Oncology department, positioning itself as a leader in cancer treatment and care in the region. The adoption of these technologies makes Yashoda Medicity the only hospital in Southeast Asia equipped with such equipment.
The first technology, Varian EDGE with HyperArc, combines high-definition imaging with advanced radiation delivery to provide targeted radiation therapy. This system ensures that patients receive optimal doses of radiation, improving treatment effectiveness while reducing side effects. HyperArc technology has shown significant improvements in both tumour dose coverage and a marked reduction in the dose to organs at risk. It addresses challenges in non-coplanar treatments by using a set of known safe Imaging WayPoints throughout the delivery sequence, ensuring a seamless and secure imaging process. The system also features advanced visualisation tools that allow clinicians to plan the treatment delivery sequence during the planning phase, eliminating the need for physical dry runs and reducing resource use and collision risks. HyperArc offers an end-to-end solution for intracranial target treatments with predefined immobilisation protocols, prescribed intrafraction imaging, and precise patient setup.
The second technology, ETHOS with HyperSight and Identity, integrates real-time imaging with adaptive treatment planning. It ensures that radiation delivery is precisely aligned with the tumour’s position and shape throughout the treatment course. This system supports a range of treatment techniques, including adaptive therapy, image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). HyperSight imaging allows for high-confidence visualisation of patient anatomy, responsive adaptation to anatomical changes, and efficient treatment delivery. It also supports accurate dose calculation for online adaptive radiotherapy and seamless communication with ARIA, ensuring smooth clinical data capture, real-time treatment progress updates, and streamlined administrative support.
The third technology is the 30-channel Bravos Brachytherapy system, which delivers internal radiation therapy directly to a tumour. This method allows a high dose of radiation to be delivered to cancerous tissue while minimising exposure to surrounding healthy tissues. The Bravos system integrates with imaging and treatment planning software, providing real-time feedback and adjustments during procedures. Its user-friendly interface and automated workflows enhance clinician efficiency and treatment consistency, while its advanced safety features, including precise dose verification and patient-specific plan adjustments, support treatment outcomes and patient care.
In addition to these, Yashoda Medicity has introduced the Elekta Unity MR Linac, which integrates a 1.5T MR-Linac system with continuous anatomy-specific MR imaging and comprehensive motion management. This system enables real-time personalisation of radiation therapy, broadening treatment options for all types of cancers, including those traditionally hard to treat. Elekta Unity utilises GPU-based Monte Carlo dose calculation to model dose distribution within a magnetic field, allowing for rapid replanning in minutes and facilitating informed clinical decisions. Its high-resolution treatment planning and delivery are supported by virtual leaf width technology and continuous imaging during irradiation, enabling clinicians to reduce treatment margins and expand treatment options.
Dr P.N. Arora, Chairman of Yashoda Super Speciality Hospitals, said, “At Yashoda Medicity, we are not just building a hospital; we are shaping the future of healthcare at par with global excellence.
