Cloudnine, India’s leading birthing centre and mother and childcare hospital, recently organised simulation workshops on Advanced Life Support in obstetrics, neonatal care, and fetal medicine. These workshops were held as part of the hospital’s annual “Cool Topics in Perinatology” conference. Healthcare professionals, including obstetricians, neonatologists, anaesthetists, fetal medicine specialists, and fertility experts, gathered to discuss strategies aimed at improving the quality of care and achieving optimal outcomes for both mother and child.
The first day of the conference featured 11 workshops covering a range of topics such as labour management, normal deliveries, unexpected complications, C-section techniques, and fetal medicine procedures. The sessions were designed to encourage collaboration among clinicians and enhance their skills through real-time scenarios, offering participants hands-on training in handling critical situations.
Doctors and healthcare professionals from across India reported that the workshops improved their preparedness to deal with emergencies in their daily practice. Open to professionals nationwide, the workshops aligned with public health trends and underscored the need for improved maternal and neonatal care. These initiatives are focused on reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality rates while striving for zero errors in healthcare delivery.
Key highlights of the workshops included hands-on training in Advanced Life Support in obstetrics and gynaecology, where participants practised critical simulated emergencies, emphasising teamwork in high-pressure situations. Fetal medicine sessions provided ultrasound training and simulated clinical settings for participants to refine their needle-handling skills and learn fetal treatment techniques in utero. The labour simulation training immersed participants in real-life scenarios, enhancing their confidence and preparedness for unpredictable challenges. Additionally, the neonatology simulation program offered case-based learning and practical experience in managing neonatal emergencies under the guidance of experienced paediatricians.

Kishore Kumar, Founder Chairman, Pediatrician, and Neonatologist at Cloudnine Group of Hospitals, emphasised the significance of the workshops, stating, “Our commitment to training empowers all doctors with the skills they need to provide the best care for mothers and infants. This initiative not only boosts their confidence but also enhances teamwork in high-pressure environments.”
More than 400 clinicians participated in the workshops, gaining enhanced skills in emergency management, improved teamwork strategies, and a deeper understanding of best practices in obstetrics and neonatology. Dr Kumar added that the workshops foster a culture of continuous learning and excellence in maternal and child healthcare.
