Apollo Hospitals: medical partners of Buddh International Circuit
Team of 40 highly-trained doctors and paramedics staff on standby during the race
Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals are the medical partners of Buddh International Circuit-a motorsport extravaganza, SIDVIN festival of speed starting today 30th November till 2 December 2012. Apollo has a team of 40 dedicated staffers – specialists, doctors and paramedics – deployed at different positions all over the track & medical centre at B.I.C., Greater Noida.
Keeping in view the likelihood of high-intensity impacts and accidents during speed festivals, the Apollo team underwent rigorous training for 45days earlier this year, during which they received Basic Life Support, Advance Cardiac Life Support and Trauma Life Support training for the highest degree of preparedness. They also underwent extensive simulation exercises prior to the SIDVIN festival of speed.
Under the supervision and guidance of Dr Priyadarshini Pal Singh, HOD, Department of Accidents & Emergency, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals – who has been appointed as the Chief Medical Officer of the SIDVIN festival of speed is leading a strong team of 40 medical personnel on the track. She said “besides medical chase cars, we have two ambulances, a specialist team of doctors stationed at the world-class medical centre, and a specialised burns unit at the hospital for the event.”
Several practice session and drills were carried out on the track, where car crash accident scenarios were simulated to ensure the safety of the drivers in case of real-time accidents, right from extrication to ambulance transfer and rushing to the Medical Care Centre. A separate highly skilled burns unit is also put on standby at the hospital in case of any burn injuries.
