Budget 2014 Wishlist: Gopi Gopalakrishnan, President and Founder, World Health Partners (WHP)

The healthcare sector is looking at the upcoming budget with a high level of anticipation. I hope it catalyses a stronger ecosystem in order to harness all the national resources—be they in the public, private or NGO sectors—to deliver some basic health services to the rural and marginalised communities. We expect that better support is not restricted to making more funds available but goes that extra mile to align with a plan of the Health Ministry which will focus on training of all providers, better connectivity, corruption-proof regulatory mechanisms and independent monitoring tools and many such more. If all these come together with a undergirding financial support, that will make the turning point in healthcare delivery.
