Fortis supplies medical aid to Uttarakhand

Fortis Healthcare has sent medical supplies and doctors to flood affected Uttarakhand, in a bid to help the administration deal with the unfolding crisis.

Fortis Healthcare, through the Fortis Foundation has sent over a ton of emergency medicines and a team of 18 doctors, nurses, paramedics and support staff as part of Project Fortis SEWA to provide medical relief to victims in the calamity stricken areas of Uttarakhand. Team Fortis SEWA has reportedly set up a base camp at Dehradun and is working with the local administration, the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force to mount relief operations. Depending on the exigencies of the situation the base camp may be moved further towards Badrinath or Gochar. Local support is being organised by the Fortis team at Dehradun where it also has a hospital.

Emergency medical supplies and medicines provided include antibiotics, anti-infectives, general medicines and support for orthopaedic and general trauma injuries. As the surrounding wild areas are known to have scorpions and snakes, anti venom medication has been included as also medical sutures to take care of first line surgical stabilisation.
