Medica Superspecialty Hospital
Situated in Mukundapur, off EM Bypass, the 500-beded Medica Superspecialty Hospital is one of the largest healthcare units in Eastern India. A unit of Medica Synergie Group, the hospital has brought to the city a fresh approach in healthcare – not just in technological advancements and innovative treatment techniques, but also in the area of patient care. A brainchild of Dr Alok Roy, Chairman of the Group, Medica has recently received the NABH accreditation. A healthcare facility catering to people from all sections of the society, Medica’s stress is on transparency and affordability.
The hospital has been aesthetically designed to bring in maximum possible natural light. It does not resemble a typical hospital. The lobby and waiting area for friends and relatives are so designed to make the waiting more soothing. The hospital has 10 modern operation theatres with hepa filters of 0.5 microns, cath lab and neonatal ICU. The CCUs have been placed on the same floors as the cath lab and the operation theatres to avoid vertical movement of critical patients.
The Imaging Department offers high resolution X-rays, ultrasound, CT- a second installation of its kind in the world, 1.5 Tesla MRI, mammography and bone densitometer. The images taken can be accessed by any consultant in the hospital in his/her computer through picture archiving and communication system (PACS). The hospital has the 24-hour laboratory support in the form of NABL accredited Medica Lab, which has the latest equipment and technical skill providing a wide array of investigation facilities, and a blood bank. For the first time in the city, pneumatic chutes have been installed for quick and efficient movement of path lab samples.
