NATHEALTH, an apex body representing the Indian healthcare industry, has appointed Ameera Shah, Promoter and Executive Chairperson of Metropolis Healthcare, as its new President for FY 2025-2026. Shah takes over from Abhay Soi, Chairman and Managing Director of Max Healthcare Institute Ltd. The announcement was made at the Annual General Meeting following the 11th NATHEALTH Arogya Bharat Summit 2025 in New Delhi.

The new leadership team includes Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd, as Senior Vice President, and Himanshu Baid, Managing Director of Poly Medicure, as Vice President. Varun Khanna, Group Managing Director of Quality Care India Ltd, has been elected as Secretary, and Rishubh Gupta, Managing Director of India and Neighbouring Markets at Roche Diagnostics India, has been appointed Treasurer. The leadership team will work towards advancing India’s healthcare landscape and ensuring equitable access to care.

Siddhartha Bhattacharya will continue in his role as Secretary General, leading the NATHEALTH Secretariat. His focus will remain on fostering strategic partnerships, uniting healthcare stakeholders through regional chapters, and working closely with policymakers to shape the future of healthcare in India.

Speaking on her appointment, Ameera Shah said, “India is on the cusp of a healthcare transformation, with the potential to not just serve its own population but to emerge as a global hub for innovation, medical excellence, and affordable care. However, achieving Viksit Bharat 2047 requires us to address systemic challenges, strengthening quality standards, and accelerating digital health adoption. Public-private collaboration will be instrumental in bridging these gaps and positioning India as a leader in MedTech, diagnostics, and medical value travel. As the President of NATHEALTH, my focus will be on driving meaningful partnerships, advocating for policy reforms, and creating an ecosystem where innovation thrives. The future of healthcare is not just about infrastructure, it is about reimagining delivery models, investing in technology, and ensuring that high-quality care is accessible to every Indian. Through collective action, we can position India at the forefront of global healthcare and make our system more resilient, inclusive, and future-ready.”

Sangita Reddy said, “India stands at a pivotal moment where healthcare must evolve to meet the needs of a growing and diverse population. Our focus must be on strengthening healthcare infrastructure, streamlining regulations on insurance, building capabilities, and integrating technology to enhance patient outcomes. As the sector moves towards preventive and personalised care, ensuring affordability and accessibility remains paramount. NATHEALTH will play a crucial role in fostering industry-wide collaboration and advocating for reforms that drive efficiency and excellence. I look forward to working with all stakeholders to shape policies and innovations that make high-quality healthcare a reality for every Indian.”

The new leadership team will work towards addressing key challenges in the healthcare sector, strengthening public-private partnerships, and shaping policies that drive efficiency and innovation in the industry.
