Asian Institute of Medical Sciences acquires Dwarkadas Jalan Memorial Hospital in Dhanbad

The new management would expand the hospital’s size to 250 operational beds with an investment of Rs 250 crores

Asian Institute of Medical Sciences (Asian), has taken over a 100-bedded Dwarkadas Jalan Memorial Hospital located in Dhanbad, Jhakhand to manage the hospital on a long term basis. The MoU was signed in the presence of Raghuvar Das, CM, Jharkhand, Directors from Asian Hospital, Anupam Pandey, Dr Prashant Pandey, CFO Piyush Nagori as well as BP Dalmia and Rajiv Sharma, trustees of Jalan Hospital.

The hospital, operational since 2003, is a basic secondary care hospital. Reportedly, the new management would expand the hospital’s size to 250 operational beds with an investment of Rs 250 crores to convert it into a high-end tertiary care hospital. The hospital would be renamed as Asian Dwarkadas Jalan Superspeciality hospital. Speaking on the occasion Dr NK Pandey (Recipient of Padmashree and Dr BC Roy Award), Chairman and MD, Asian Hospital said, “This is our first hospital in Eastern India. In the short term, we are going to establish services in neurosciences, cardiology and gastroenterology and apart from other specialities. We will also add technology to support the 250-bedded hospital for the people of Jharkhand.”

Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said, “We are proud to be associated with the Asian Group of Hospitals. We believe that this would change the landscape of healthcare in Dhanbad as Asian would provide quality care facility to the people of Jharkhand.”
