Aster Volunteers launch mobile medical units in Gujarat to expand healthcare access

New units in Sankari and Khedbrahma to provide essential medical services to underserved communities

Aster Volunteers, the global CSR arm of Aster DM Healthcare, has launched two new Mobile Medical Service units to provide healthcare access in Sankari, Surat, and Khedbrahma in Sabarkantha district, Gujarat. The initiative aims to deliver medical services to disadvantaged individuals, improving healthcare accessibility in remote areas.

The Mobile Medical Units were launched by Rushikesh Patel, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, and Harsh Sanghavi, Minister of Home, Police Housing & Disaster Management, Government of Gujarat. The event was attended by Pujya Swami Brahmaviharidas, Head of BAPS Global Outreach & Head BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi, BAPS; Pujya Swami Nikhileshdas, Head of BAPS Medical Activities; and Jaleel PA, Head of CSR, Aster DM Healthcare.

The new mobile units are equipped with facilities including a patient waiting area, registration desk, vital data collection station, mini laboratory with refrigerated storage, medicine storage and dispensing unit, consultation room for general practitioners, and spaces for health education programs. An expandable awning provides outdoor shade for additional patient care. The units also feature air conditioning, infection control mechanisms, and Wi-Fi connectivity and are designed to navigate remote village roads, ensuring access to marginalised communities.

Aster Volunteers Mobile Medical Services (AVMMS) is a CSR initiative by Aster DM Healthcare, providing free medical camps and disaster aid support to communities in remote regions. Since its inception, AVMMS has treated over 1.4 million individuals across India, the Middle East, and Africa, focusing on areas with limited medical access. The initiative has a global network of over 50 units, operating in states including Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Bihar, Haryana, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, and Jammu & Kashmir.
