Jupiter Hospital conducts it on a 40 years old brain cancer patient from Thane Distt, through Brachytherapy
Dr Manish Chandra, Radiation Oncologist at Jupiter Hospital has recently treated Rajesh (name changed), a 40 years old brain cancer patient from Thane Distt, through the advanced treatment technique, Brachytherapy.
Brachytherapy is a complex procedure that involves radiation therapy that uses ionising radiation to kill cancer cells and shrink tumours. This rare technique was performed for the first time in Maharashtra for treating the brain cancer patient at Jupiter Hospital, Thane.
The patient was diagnosed with high-grade brain cancer in 2016. He was initially treated with a surgery, followed by radiation therapy at Jupiter hospital, Thane. After 18 month, further assessment reports of patient revealed that the brain tumour had recurred, leading to another surgery followed by chemotherapy. On his further follow up, the treating doctors within two months discovered that the disease has recurred in patient.
Concerned by the recurrence of the disease, the patient consulted Dr Chandra regarding further line of management.
Dr Chandra along with team of experts including neurosurgeon Dr Harshad Purandare at Jupiter discussed the treatment procedure with patient and thereafter doctors carried out Brachytherapy on the patient.
“Jupiter Hospital is amongst the few hospitals in India that performs Brachytherapy on cancer patients. We are happy that the patient has responded well to the treatment procedure. Ours efforts are now focusing not only on the treatment of such complex and rare cases, but also extend our expertise and support to cancer patients to live longer and healthier lives across the country,” said Dr Chandra.
“I’m fortunate to have good results. I’m thankful to Dr Chandra and his team who have helped me and my family to live a happier life,” mentioned 40 years old patient who was treated for brain cancer.
