Edelweiss General Insurance introduces new features in its health insurance policy

Features such as Zero Discharge Time, Guaranteed Bed and Zero Deposit have been introduced in the insurance policy

Edelweiss General Insurance Company, the general insurance arm of Edelweiss Financial Services (one of India’s leading diversified financial service firm), is the first in the industry to introduce first-of-its-kind features in its Health Insurance policy – Zero Discharge time, Zero Deposit and Guaranteed Bed.

The company guarantees its customers ‘ZERO’ discharge time for a total of 14 procedures which are initially being rolled out across 23 hospitals pan-India. These procedures include common occurrences like cataract, maternity, cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal) etc. Some of the hospitals under the policy are Apollo Spectra Hospitals, Chembur, Titan Hospital, Sapna Healthcare Centre And Surana Sethia Hospital, Chembur.
Anup Rau, CEO, Edelweiss General Insurance said, “Currently, discharge time for a patient ranges from two to five hours and is the # 1 cause of customer grievance. Being admitted to a hospital is a painful period for the patient as well as its family. We are pleased to introduce this feature across our health policies as we believe that settlement of dues should not ideally add on to the ordeal of a patient.”

The other add-on features include ‘Guaranteed Bed’ and ‘Zero Deposit.’ Guaranteed bed feature ensures that the policy holder will get a bed in the hospital which is listed under the health insurance policy. With Zero Deposit feature customers of Edelweiss Health Insurance don’t have to pay the deposit amount for the time they are using the bed/room to get cured/treated. Edelweiss General Insurance has tied up with Wockhardt Hospitals (the entire chain – Mumbai Central, Mira Road, Vashi, Nagpur, Nashik, Surat), Zen Hospital, Mumbai and Nanavati hospital, Mumbai to offer “Guaranteed Bed” and “Zero Deposit” feature.
