Ameer Ali Ghazi, a five-year-old boy from Iraq, was recently operated upon a large size brain tumour at Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad. Ghazi complained of persistent headache and multiple episodes of vomiting since the last one month.

Neurosurgeon Dr Shibashish Bhattacharjee, who operated on this patient, said, “The case was challenging as the tumour was large and close to the visual cortex. Also the child was only five-year-old. The MRI of the brain showed presence of a 5×4 cm large tumour in the back of head (occipital region of the brain). The surgery for the brain tumour went on for five hours and the tumour could be removed completely. A post operative MRI was done which confirmed complete tumour removal. Post operative period was uneventful, there was no deterioration in his vision and he made a complete recovery and was discharged in a week. Ghazi is presently undergoing radiation therapy under the supervision of the radiation oncologist at the cancer centre of Shree Krishna Hospital.”
