Govt of NCT of Delhi to add 10,000 hospital beds with free insurance services
Delhi Health Corporation will also be set up to ensure that the health facilities and medical services are properly monitored
The Government of NCT of Delhi plans to add another 10,000 beds to its existing hospital infrastructure with free insurance services. This information was provided by Satyendar Jain, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of NCT of Delhi, at India Hospital Summit Supply Chain Management 2016, under the aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Jain also disclosed that the government would create central warehouse shortly for storages of medicines that would preserve medicine for three months. The distribution of the medicines will be outsourced to all government hospitals in Delhi for their timely delivery.
Jain said, “Delhi Health Corporation will also be set up to ensure that the health facilities and medical services are properly monitored including the procurement of medicines directly from manufacturers with an advance payment of 80 per cent of their total cost. The remaining 20 per cent would be reimbursed to the source of medical and equipment supplies after procuring their bills.”
“Health services in Delhi would be made so efficient with sufficient availability of doctors who will perform only clinical work against the prevailing system under which doctors are assigned multiple jobs”, the Minister pointed out.
However, the Government of NCT of Delhi categorically refused to enhance its allocations for health services. It contended that the existing resources are enough and sufficient and need to be utilised efficiently within which it will transform healthcare of Delhi by March 2017.
