HCL Foundation, AROH Foundation celebrate National Deworming Day

To mark the occasion government school children from Chanchali, Chauroli, Dastampur, Deorar, Jahangirpur and Thora villages of Jewar district participated in water conservation and pond rejuvenation activities

HCL Foundation in association with AROH Foundation celebrated National Deworming Day through their CSR initiative ‘Harit’, which aims to combat climate change through ecosystem conservation and restoration under their flagship programme, HCL Uday. To mark the occasion government school children from Chanchali, Chauroli, Dastampur, Deorar, Jahangirpur and Thora villages of Jewar district in the state of Uttar Pradesh participated in water conservation and pond rejuvenation activities.

Rejuvenation of local water bodies is an important part of creating new green spaces and for water conservation. Aiming for the same, AROH & HCL Uday, stepped in together in Greater Noida to revive 14 village ponds under JanShakti for JalShakti, to make it water and food secure.

As a part of National Deworming Day, which is an initiative of the Government of India both the organisations came together in the primary school Thora – 1 of Thora village of Uttar Pradesh and commenced the day by organising awareness rallies, movies and oath-taking for school students, teachers, and localities. A total of 150 children from government schools participated and were groomed to be water ambassadors in the villages for the conservation of ponds. The objective of the day was to sensitise, deworm and aware children about the coronavirus through the platform of schools and Anganwadi centres to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life.

Speaking about the activities that were conducted to mark the “National Deworming Day”, Dr Neelam Gupta, Founder, President & CEO, AROH Foundation, said, “AROH team recognises the importance of care children need in the early years. Hence, we strive to raise awareness on the issues of sustainability, child health and nutrition and make efforts to improve them”.
