The collaboration aims to focus on preventing, controlling disease transmission through extensive testing of COVID-19
Indus Health Plus recently announced its collaboration with Suburban Diagnostic to conduct COVID-19 detection tests. The collaboration aims to focus on preventing and controlling the disease transmission through an extensive testing of COVID-19. ICMR has authorised Suburban Diagnostics as one of the private labs to conduct the tests for COVID-19.
Maharashtra currently has the highest number of cases compared to any other state in India, and Mumbai and Pune top the list. Therefore, as part of the company’s initiative, testing facilities have been made available in Mumbai and Pune first. In the next phase, Indus Health Plus plans to extend this facility to the other states and cities in the country. The scheduling of appointments and payments can both be done on Indus Health Plus website or over a call. The sample collection will be facilitated by Suburban Diagnostics either via home collection or directly at the centre. Also, as per the guidelines by the government, a legitimate prescription from a physician, and a photo ID card with address proof is mandatory and must be presented at the time of testing.
Amol Naikawadi, Joint Managing Director, Indus Health Plus, commented on this development saying: “We understand the significance of prevention and early detection and hence an extensive testing strategy is the best possible way to control the transmission of COVID-19. At this point of time, it is imperative to reach out to people who are experiencing any sort of symptoms to be able to provide them with proper guidance and right information. Our organisation is committed to prevention and therefore, we collaborated with Suburban Diagnostics to provide greater accessibility to these tests across Mumbai and Pune. We will continue to provide support and identify opportunities where Indus Health Plus can be a part to control this dreadful situation in our country.”
The private laboratories as per the government’s mandate can conduct real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based test. Also, only a certified phlebotomist will collect the test samples directly from the patient’s home. The personnel will take necessary precautionary measures as per ICMR guidelines while taking the throat and nasal swabs for the test. The collected sample will be sent to the Suburban Diagnostics laboratory for COVID-19 detection testing. The report will be made available to the patients within 24-48 hours of the sample collection.
