KJ Somaiya Hospital and Research Centre initiates fundraising campaign

K J Somaiya Hospital and Research Centre has set up a fundraiser campaign to add additional capacity for ICU beds, ventilators, and patient care. The hospital aims to raise Rs 5 crores to ramp up the effort and infrastructure to continue serving patients regardless of patients’ financial abilities.

The hospital informed through a statement, “As the second wave overstretched the healthcare system in the entire country, the prediction of the third wave affecting kids has worried medical practitioners and parents. The hospital urges people to help them continue the fight against the distressing virus. To make your contribution visit the website and click on the contribution now to proceed. The website also provides an option to forward the petition to contribute on WhatsApp to your friends and family. Donations to this campaign will also be tax-exempt under Section 80G (Section 80G of the Income Tax Act allows a tax deduction on donations made to any charitable organisation). Amrita Somaiya, Trustee, K J Somaiya Medical Trust, said, “In our more than a yearlong battle against the COVID-19 virus we have fought continuously with the selfless contribution of our brave healthcare workers and support from our donors. We are seeking more support to further expand our facility and serve more patients to our best capabilities. As patients are still struggling for proper medical care and attention, and we foresee a possible third wave that is said to affect children, we are taking a pre-planned step to face the challenge better. The statement also updated, “K J Somaiya Hospital, as part of their commitment to society, made available 377 beds in the first wave and treated over 3680 patients for Covid-19. For exemplary service in the first wave, they were awarded the Ayushmaan Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana certificate for excellence. With the generosity of donors, they have actively increased the number of beds in the current fight to 410 beds, including 55 ICU beds for the treatment of patients. As the need for critical care increases, they have been continuously adding to the infrastructure.”
