‘Making efforts to improve health systems in India’

The Union Health Minister gave an overview of the government’s measures to improve healthcare in the country at a health summit held in New Delhi

JP Nadda, Union Health Minister, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW), informed that effort of opening AIIMS in various parts of the country was to assure quality of treatment for people across the country, as many travel to Delhi AIIMS for the treatment.

Listing out various initiatives being introduced by the union health ministry, Nadda informed that government is trying to give maximum access to health services across the country.

Informing that the western and southern parts of the country are doing much better in the healthcare sector, he added that the other regions need a push. “The central governemnt is encouraging public-private partnerships through various schemes and initiatives so that the rural-urban divide is reduced. In order to check the widespread of non communicable disease, we have started a initiative where middle aged people can do a screen test to detect diabetes, hypertension, cervical and breast cancer,”Nadda said.

The minister was speaking at a day long summit by Dilli Aaj Tak, the summit bring together a range of health experts and medical practitioners including Satyendra Jain, Health Minister, Delhi; Anupriya Patel, MoS, MoHFW among other healthcare leaders.
