Plans to open another 500 centres in Mumbai in the next 12-18 months
Metropolis Healthcare, a chain of pathology labs and diagnostic centres, plans to open another 500 centres in Mumbai in the next 12-18 months. During the last three decades, the company has expanded its geographical footprint in India and globally across 400 cities. It has its presence in Sri Lanka, Kenya, Mauritius, Zambia and Ghana. Presently, there are 500 centres in Mumbai.
Metropolis has identified 12 cities in which they will set up centres in the coming year. These markets include Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi. They also plan to add 1000 collection centres across India with an investment of Rs 100 crores in the project.
Vijender Singh,CEO, Metropolis says, “We now plan to add up 500 more centres in Mumbai in next 12-18 months and about 1000+ centres all over India, Sri Lanka and Africa. “India’s diagnostics market is estimated at around $2.2 billion and is poised to double by 2018. We have been building on automation, adopting global best practices and introducing new tests and technologies”.
Dr Kirti Chadha, Head, Metropolis Global Referral Lab (GRL) added, “In this era of evidence based medicine and personalised treatment, we are innovating further into clinical genomics and digitisation to ensure optimal patient management at affordable price in shortest possible time by bringing International best practices to India and other countries.” She added that they will be entering into image analysis very soon.
